The body of 31 year old Edwardo Martinez was discovered around 2 this morning on the edge of this field called the Alexander Johnson Football Field in the Maya Mopan Area.

He was found lying in a pool of blood just a few feet away from the main street with multiple stab wounds to his chin, throat and chest.

A black beach cruiser bicycle believed to have belonged to Martinez- was also seen on the street not far away from his body.

But according to neighbors, they heard no commotion last night and the murder couldn't have occurred during the day because there was a football marathon happening on the field - up until 5 Sunday evening.

That leaves this quiet neighborhood to believe that Martinez was killed somewhere else and his body was only dumped on the field.

Neighbor
"I live across the field, and I was preparing myself to go to a convention at the PUP place. We went and I came back at 8 o'clock in the night. When we came back I prepared again to go to work. So I came home at 7 o'clock this morning, and when I arrived, I saw what was happening. There was a dead person here, and we didn't' see or hear anything, until this morning at about 1 or 2 o'clock that police came and pick up a body that was around there."

Martinez is from the Salvapan Area of Belmopan - not too far away from where he was found. We were told by someone in the area - that Martinez was last seen at a bar about 2 blocks away from where he was killed.

We tried getting a comment from his grieving family but they refused to speak with us. But his friends who all gathered around the crime scene described him as a well-mannered individual with a pleasant personality.

We understand Edwardo Martinez was also an employee of the Belize Telemedia Limited in Belmopan.

Police have no one detained as yet...
