Taximan Shot In Benque
posted (February 29, 2012)
And moving now from politics and crime, to just crime, Benque Police have confirmed to 7news that, at around 9 this morning, there was a shooting incident on the Western highway leading to the Belize/Guatemala border.

Unfortunately, police received the report a bit too late, and taxi driver who saw the victim in distress, assisted by taking him over to the border to a hospital in Melchor. This taxi driver explained to police that it was the first thing that he could have thought to do to try to save the man.

As a result, they could not provide any details to us about the actual events that led to the shooting, and neither could they tell us who this man is.

However, reliable sources in Benque have provided information that that victim is a Belizean Taxi driver of Arenal Village.

Reports to our newsroom are that the taxi driver attempted to pick up a passenger who ended up shooting him for reasons unknown at this time. Up to news time tonight, the details remain sketchy.
