On Friday we saw the coastline in Punta Gorda littered with all manner of garbage
that floated in from either Guatemala or Honduras. The Toledo Institute for
Development and Technology along with municipal authorities and other residents
in the town came together on Friday and Saturday to try to clear it up. Despite
working aggressively to gather as much as they could, all the debris and garbage
was not cleared.
TIDE reports that the team working on Friday and Saturday pulled out about
100 bags of garbage but there is still a significant quantity that needs to
be removed. TIDE is still appealing for anyone who can help them in the clean
up effort to please do so.
