Police were already posted in the general area - after random shots were fired there last Saturday morning. They moved quickly to lock off Mayflower Street and detained John Chessman - who just got off his second murder rap in May.

The GSU and other police units were there in force and searched intensively in a swampy area near Mayflower Street where they found a black CZ brand 9mm pistol. The firearm was cocked and loaded with 12 live 9 mm rounds of ammunition and one inside the chamber. The magazine is an extended magazine with a capacity of 26 rounds.
