On Saturday night, the Queen of the Jewel Miss Belize Pageant was held at Bliss Institute.
9 participants competed against each other in 6 categories. At the end, Destiny Dominique Arnold was chosen by a panel of the judges as the 2012 Queen of the Jewel.
Today, 7News caught up with Miss Arnold, and she described for us what it means to be the current holder of that title.

"I became the Queen of the Jewel through hard work and dedication. We started the process maybe 3 weeks ago and we travel around the country to various locations such as Caye Caulker, San Pedro, Cayo and we went through training courses on how to walk, how to talk, how to act and now I am here."
"I am now the beauty ambassador for Belize and I will represent our country in various places of the world and hopefully I can show people the beauty I see in our country and that's going to be my job for this year."

"Is there any competitions in the near future that you will be attending as the Belize delegate?"

"We are in the process of discussing my next endeavor."
As the new Queen of the Jewel, Arnold will have the duty of being the beauty and tourism ambassador for the country, as well as the speaker for the New Love Foundation.
She will be the representing Belize in international Competition along with all of the 5 finalists.
