There's no longer a shrimp season - and that's because banning shrimp trawlers put an end to the commercial Shrimp trade.
And so most times when you eat shrimp - it's farmed shrimp from Belize's many aquaculture facilities.
But there are still shrimp in the sea and today near the BTL park we saw a crowd of folks casting nets for the swimming animals.
Those we saw told us that the shrimp were have been brought in by a spell of rough seas followed by a calm such as we had today.
They were selling the fresh sea shrimp for ten dollars a pound - but the price was negotiable.
