Man Murdered In Front Of Wife and Child
posted (January 22, 2013)
And while we're all riding a high off that historic win….sadly, there's still bad news to report tonight. Tonight another Belize City family is in the throes of devastating grief after a father and husband was executed in front of his home this morning. Lebanese Belizean businessman Majdi Agha was killed in front of his wife and young child at his home in a secluded residential area of the city's northside.

It was another ruthless daylight execution, pulled off with impunity - and Daniel Ortiz was on the scene:..

Daniel Ortiz reporting
50 year-old Lebanese Belizean Majdi Agha was found dead in the drain in front of his home on Keating Crescent off Seashore Drive in the Buttonwood Bay area.

According to residents, he had just returned home from dropping his daughter at school. He got out of his car, and as soon as he attempted to open his gate, a masked gunman - or, in this case, a hitman - suddenly appeared and shot him several times.

That man bounded off as he saw Agha collapse. Neighbors say they saw him sprinting away and struggling to shove his gun into his pants waist. They say a car was waiting for him.

His wife, who was inside the house heard the shots ring out, and found him lying in the drain. Agha suffered a gunshot to the head, and 3 to his body, and even though she rushed to his aid, he was already dead.

One of the contractors who was working on the house right across the street told us off-camera about what he heard.

Voice of: Bystander
"At the time I was doing my work and all I heard was the gunshot, I was at the window and I went inside the house to cover myself. A while after I decided to come out and I heard the lady making noise. It looks like she couldn't speak, she was making noise as a sign, she was pointing towards the fence. I look and saw the vehicle and a baby and I saw the man lying down on the side."

And while police were processing the scene, and getting ready to move Agha's body, his wife in understandable pain, became distressed, trying to get past her friends to see him for one last time.

She wouldn't take no for an answer, when she was told to stay back, nothing could calm her.

When police finally got his body into the vehicle and drove it away to the morgue, the sight of her dead husband and father of their 3 children caused her to double over in pain.

And while Agha's family and friends grapple with the tragic event, they have to reflect also on the October 2011 slaying of 40 year-old Lebanese American Abdul Aziz Mohamed DIB.

He was killed at Majdi Agha's restaurant in the Farmer's Market, King Kabob. It was rumored that he was the target, but that the assailant may have mistaken Dib for Agha, who share similar physiology. Dib was eating in the restaurant that day, while Agha was at the back preparing food.

Police have made no arrest for that murder, the Alfred Schackron that followed two days later -and now they face this, the third broad daylight execution of a Lebanese in three months.

That question of whether or not these murders are related is something that police will have to find an answer to at some point.

And these security cameras perched on a neighbor's driveway may prove useful in the investigation.

Majdi Agha is well known as a Lebanese Restaurant Owner and has been in Belize for over 30 years. He was the father of at least 5 children one of them, a newborn.
