It is a hideous accusation and two men have outraged the Orange Walk community
with an act that suggests extreme deviance. The two grown men have been charged
for molesting and then beating up a 6-year-old boy. Witnesses allege that the
boy was left bleeding and badly bruised by fellow villager 46-year-old Domingo
Chuc and 36-year-old David Camara who are both in jail tonight.
The crime allegedly occurred yesterday afternoon in San Jose Village which
is about six miles outside of Orange Walk Town. The boy's mother says that around
2 pm she went to get more firewood for the bread she was baking. She says she
heard a child crying in Domingo Chuc's yard. She says she jumped over the fence
and looked into Chuc's window. That is when she realized the boy crying was
her six-year-old son. Chuc and a friend had taken off his shirt.
Both men both men appeared in Orange Walk's Magistrate Court today and arraigned
on charges of harm, indecent assault, and the rarely used garroting, which is
basically to choke someone. Chuc was additionally charged with using threatening
words. Both men were denied bail and remanded to the Hattieville Prison.
