But turning first to other news, a woman was murdered in Caye Caulker this afternoon – and the key suspect is her husband. Our team is just back from Caye Caulker and we'll have that story a little later, but first….an update on the shooting we told you about last night.
At 6:00 pm, 30 year old Arturo Varela was shot in a yard on Antelope Street Extension. Police say he had an argument with his common-law wife and as he was leaving his house, he saw two men pulling on ski – masks in the adjoining yard, which is where his mother-in-law lives. He ran back inside his house, but the masked men kicked open the front door and fired several shots at him. Fortunately, he was not seriously hurt and the KHMH reports that he has been treated and released. Police have detained four persons all of Antelope Street Extension. The fight he'd had with his wife is believed to be related to the shooting.
