PM Agrees: Police Taking Too Long To Press Noh Mul Charges
posted (June 12, 2013)
The Prime Minister also addressed the situation at Noh Mul. It's been almost five weeks since the story made the news – and still, no charges have been brought against De-Mar's stone Company which has admitted to bulldozing the ancient Mayan temple. Today, the Prime Minister told the media why it's been taking too long:..

Hon. Dean Barrow - Prime Minister of Belize
"They need to record a statement from the camera man/men that did the video recording and the drivers of the equipment have still not been properly identified. The video recording is available but the DPP doesn't think that's sufficient for prosecuting purposes. The DPP is obviously being extremely careful, she wants to be sure that when she gives the directive to lay the charges - the case will be water tight. Yes I am concerned that the office in charge of the investigation whom I shall not name, from the start did not get some of the material that the DPP is now sending him back to get. This report was brought to my house last night by Cornell Lovell after I had spoken to him during the day making claim that I wanted to be able to report to the public and that I would not be at all pleased if I couldn't report that this thing has happened or is about to happen imminently. I signaled that in my view it's taking too long."
