And our next story is not about a car jacking, but in office parlance – what would be called "taking a conveyance without authorization" – which is what a joyriding security guard at the BTB allegedly did on Sunday night.
The Director of Tourism Laura Esquivel Frampton today told us that on Sunday night a staffer who returned late from the Placencia Lobster fest – handed the key for an Isuzu D-Max to the security guards – for them to pass it along to staffers in the morning. Well, the security guard seems to have gone on an ill-fated joyride – and Esquivel told us she doesn't know what happened next but the D-Max was wrecked. It is now in the parking lot beside another BTB vehicle a Prado that caught in an accident some weeks ago when staffers had a blowout on the highway.
She confirmed that Mark King's Company, Brints Security guards the BTB building at nights and on weekends. She says the Board will have to decide what action it will pursue with Brints Security after this incident. The D-Max was comprehensively insured.
She added that it is not unusual for staffers to hand the key to security – especially in this case where the employee had the Monday off.
