WAVE Raises Funds For FFB
posted (July 1, 2013)
One group showing support is the staff at WAVE RADIO who, as we showed you, planned a major barbeque sale to raise funds for the public.

Their intention was to meet a target of $10,000 to give to the team, and today, they called us out when they presented it to the FFB representative.

Here's how they organizers explained the success they had:

Hyacinth Latchman - Organizer, Wave Radio Barbeque
"It went wonderful - I just need to make mention before I go further that my boss Juliette Thimbrel came in last week Monday with the idea that if we sell 1000 plates of Barbeque for the football team then they'll get $10,000 so she called in her senior managers and we immediately went in to play. Everybody started with the logistics, who will we do what - how many plates we will need, beans, corn, chicken and we went from there. We have to say that Belizeans came out from far and some people came all the way out from Chicago to be with us just this Saturday to help FFB in their process for their event because we want our football team to win. It was hard work, a lot of dedication and serious commitment from the entire Wave Staff - everybody put in their cents and it was all in success for FFB."

Marlon Kuylen - Executive Member, FFB
"I feel honored and it's a good feeling to know that people are actually taking the initiative and making great efforts in trying to help us raise the funds necessary to make the team comfortable. I was out here on Saturday and I was amazed at the crowd that was out here and I looked at Hyacinth and told her 'you didn't realize what you were get into through?' You know you have 20-25 people waiting for their food and hungry people aren't that patient and to see that Juliette, Hyacinth and the rest of her crew were just trying to handle it was amazing to see and when I looked at the beans and the corn that was served with the food they were individual containers - somebody had to do that 1000 times so that was great - it was a wonderful feeling."

The FFB reports that the Tropicana Lounge had a dance last week, and they collected $5,000, on behalf of the team.

The FFB reports that the Belize City Council is also organizing a benefit concert to be held on Saturday at the ITVET. They will be organizing a food court, a line of top Belizean artists. It is scheduled to start at midday, and it will end by 10 p.m.

Wil Maheia's party, the PNP also did its part by donating five hundred dollars.
