Jaguars’ Captain’s Impression of Jeld Wen
posted (July 9, 2013)
At the top of the news, we showed you the comments from both the US and the Belize Teams, as they wait patiently to compete against each other.

Well, the hour of that showdown is getting every nearer, and anticipation is building to see how Belize will perform. Will the Jaguars shock the world with an upset, or will the US team outplay them, and by how much?

Well, that depends on the training, but it also depends on the conditions they are playing under. One of those conditions is the synthetic football pitch at the Jeld Wen field, and as we showed you, both teams got a chance to test it out.

Belize got another chance last night, and today, Jules Vasquez asked them about how it will affect their playing.

Dalton Eiley - Team Captain, Belize Jaguars
"It went well, a little tactical thing attacking, defending and I think it went well; everyone seems ready for the game tomorrow"

"The artificial turf, how is it coming along?"

Dalton Eiley - Team Captain, Belize Jaguars
"It feels better than it looks. I've played on artificial turf before but not like that one and that one is really professional. It's very soft and the ball rolls a lot faster so that is one thing we have to get use to. It seems that they are going to wet the field so we got to get ready for that ball, when it hits the ground it slides . From my experience, I don't think I want to slide and the coach wants you to stay in your feed as much as possible; you slide you miss the ball, you got to get up and chase down so it's easier to stay in your feet most of the time; if you have to make a slide, you have to make a slide."

"How do you see it, once the game starts tomorrow?"\

Dalton Eiley
"I think they are going to come out as any other team usually does with us, we are usually defending the first twenty minutes in the game. We are expecting that and I think we are going to defend as best as we could, try not to get a early goal, because that is going to be a downfall if we get an early goal but on the other hand we have great attacking players. If we get that opportunity we are going to take it but just defending in the first half trying to wait until the game settles down and if we get a chance to attack, go for goal."

Jules Vasquez
"In Belize we have the Charlie Slusher drama, and the contract drama, okay put that behind you and now you have the match fixing drama, you know every stage you go it seems there is always a little distraction, how is the team state of mind?"

Dalton Eiley
"Those are distractions, but I think, as a unit we rise above those distractions. The match fixing, when I heard about it I was surprised and I've never experienced anything like that before. I think the guys did the right thing, come out and tell CONCACAF officials and we have been able to rise above that and we have been able to rise above many things you know and the unit is very strong; we have a lot of togetherness so that is how we can rise above it pretty easy."

Reporter
"Did the coach tell you tonight who is the starting 11?"

Dalton Eiley
"We have an idea but he hasn't officially announced it yet to the players, he will probably do that. Tomorrow we have a meeting after our breakfast and he'll have a one on one with the players that are going to start so we'll know that tomorrow."

Reporter
"Lamentably Kuylen could not make it all the way here but I understand Chris Gilharry is arriving tonight"

Dalton Eiley
"It's sad that Kuylen couldn't make it but Chris is an excellent player and he'll be a good addition to the team. He's been with the team from Costa Rica so if we lose a good player we will get back a good player and I think we need that 23 man like you said for that 'if in case'. We need everyone here because it's three games. Anything can happen."
