One business that was recently targeted by a scammer is Cellular World. Under the facebook name Eric Therr, someone created a page promoting Cellular World's latest flyers, phones and other gadgets. It doesn't end there. This person has been communicating with customers who are interesting is purchasing items and has even given them an account number to deposit money while sending them to pick up their purchase at the different Cellular World Location. So far the matter is under investigation, but the store say they would like to inform the public about the fake facebook page – and tell them not to go there:

"We were alerted today that there are customers that have been depositing money into an account that is coordinated with a Facebook page under Cellular World who is offering products at unbeatable prices and people are falling into it and calling and sending money to the account. They are coming to our stores, Belmopan, San Pedro and here in the City to come and claim their product that they have deposited for. It came to our attention that we haven't gotten any of these deposits. So we just really want to inform the general public to be on the alert for this scam. Our only official Facebook page is Cellular World Belize – as long as you don't see that page name and you see a personal name to just be very careful and to not follow this scam and to try to help us in intercepting who this person actually is. We have viewed the page and it's done very professionally – it has a picture of our store, our logos, our current promotional flyers – so who ever has done has done a great job but again just make sure that when you're look at facebook that it says Cellular World Belize. If you have any questions you can always contact any of the stores, Belmopan, Belize City or San Pedro – you can call 223-5125 (Belize City) and to just get any transactions verified if it is done through facebook."

The company has since made an official police report.
