On Friday, a policeman was found guilty of harm against his girlfriend and
the assault of one of his fellow officers.
On July 25th of this year 28 year old Police Constable Wilhem Young went to
the residence of Janice Jacobs where in a drunken rage he pulled out his belt
and began lashing Jacobs and her child. A crowd soon gathered at the spectacle,
they were soon joined by a police patrol that also came to see what the commotion
was about. Police Constable Tad Longsworth approached Young and told him to
stop hitting the woman and child.
Instead of complying Young turned the belt on Longsworth and began to lash
him as well. It was not until Longsworth managed to grab hold of the belt that
he eventually stopped. Doctors certified that Longsworth was injured by the
beating and Jacobs was harmed.
On Friday in court, he was found guilty of two counts of harm and was ordered
to pay a $500 fine for each or in default spend 5 weeks in prison. For assaulting
an officer he was fined $600 in default 6 weeks in prison.
