One rider who had hoped to be on that podium is 22 year-old Belmopan cyclist Geon Hanson. He was knocked down by a bus on the Western Highway on Christmas Eve between miles 36 and 37. He has endured major surgery at the KHMH to save his life and deal with the extensive injuries he sustained in that accident.
He remains in a critical condition at the KHMH, but his vital signs look promising. His family hopes that he will make a full recovery, and they thank the doctors and caregivers who have helped him to get to this point.
