Chief Magistrate: Horse Will Stand Trial For Murder
posted (January 30, 2014)
30 year-old Jermaine "Horse" Garnett, his 23 year-old step-son, Cassian Bennett, and 35 year-old Kenneth Barrow will stand trial in the Supreme Court for the murder of 19 year-old Raheem Requena. That's what the Chief Magistrate decided today after completing the preliminary inquiry into the case.

As we've reported, the attorneys for the accused men have submitted to the court that the evidence from the main witness, who cannot be located at this time, is not solid because there could be line of sight issues and lighting in the area. Well, the Chief Magistrate took her entire court to the crime scene yesterday and after careful consideration, she did not accept the arguments from the defence.

At today's adjournment, Chief Magistrate Smith informed the men, that she believes that the prosecution has enough evidence to prosecute the case in the Supreme Court. They have been committed to the June Session.
