Silver Rodeo Was Behind City Shootings
posted (March 5, 2014)

Tonight, 2 men are hospitalized after they became victims of the latest city shootings which happened on Raccoon Street Extension.

Police from Precinct 2 are noting a spike in random shootings in their area, so they have stepped up operations. Nevertheless there was another shooting in the area last night. 27 year-old Darrell Alvarez nearly became the victim of a well-planned hit. Police say that after 9:00 a silver rodeo pulled up and 2 men got out and fired shots at him.

Here's what police know about that shooting incident:

Corporal Jorge Lemus - Admin Section, Police Precinct 2
"At about 6:25 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, police responded to Holy Emmanuel Street in the Saint Martin De Porres area, where they met one Darrell Alvarez. He's a Belizean labourer of Holy Emmanuel Street, who reported that a silver in color 4-door SUV type Rodeo pulled up to his residents, and 2 gunmen fired 3 shots in his direction. He managed to escape without being harmed, and the male persons sped off in the said vehicle. No expended shells were recovered from the scene. No one was injured."

Duane Moody - Channel 5 News
"These men alighted the vehicle?"

Corporal Jorge Lemus
"They fired the shots from the vehicle, then they alighted, and started to chase Mr. Alvarez, however, they did not catch up to him. Mr. Alvarez made good his escape."

And just 10 minutes later, they had to respond to another shooting on Raccoon Street extension in which Leroy Richards and Jermaine Cattouse were shot. Police believe at this time that the same men who went after Alvarez on Holy Emmanuel drove over to Raccoon Street and shot these 2 men. Here's what the Corporal Lemus told us about that shooting incident, and it's possible connection to the one which happened only 10 minutes earlier:

Corporal Jorge Lemus
"Investigators from CIB Precinct 2 visited the KHMH A&E section yesterday at about 6:35. Initial investigations reveal that about 6:35 p.m., on Tuesday March 4, 2014, there were shots fired in the Raccoon Street Extension area. Initial investigations reveals that one Leroy Richards, a 27 year-old Belizean construction worker of Antelope Street extension, was seen suffering from 2 apparent gunshot wounds to the left side of the neck area, and 1 Jermaine Cattouse, other particulars unknown at this time, was seen suffering from 1 apparent gunshot wound to the abdomen regions. Initial reports are that both male persons were socializing along with a female near a public pipe in the Raccoon Street Extension area, when a silver in color 4-door SUV Rodeo type vehicle pulled up and a male person alighted the vehicle and fired the shots in the direction of these people who were gathered near the pipe, whereby Mr. Richards and Mr. Cattouse received injuries. The information that we've received is the same description of the said motor vehicle. It is a Rodeo, silver in color, 4-door, and had 2 male occupants of dark complexion. At this time the investigators from Precinct 2 are working diligently to try and seek this vehicle and occupants."

Richards and Cattouse are in a stable condition at the KHMH. Police say that they are looking for this silver rodeo and the men who they believe were the shooters.
