Latest figures from the statistical institute of Belize shows a contraction in Belize trade imbalance, but compared to last year at this time, imports are growing and exports are going down.Â
According to the SIB, in February imports valued $141.2 million, $7.5 million more than February 2013.
Exports for February, 2014 on the other hand were down by 20% and stood at $49.5 million. The SIB states that there were decreased earnings from all major exports except marine products. The largest fall in earnings occurred in the export of sugar, which fell by roughly one-half to $7.7 million.
