At the top of the news we told you all about the present difficulties Arthur Saldivar the political candidate is facing within his PUP party. But, today, he did some image rehabilitation with a donation to a needy cancer survivor.

San Pedro resident Gloriela Leiva is a thyroid cancer survivor, but she hasn't been able to go back to Merida for follow up treatment because she can't afford it. And that's what prompted her son to start stealing golf cart windshields – to raise the money for her. He is a minor and his case went to court recently – which is where Hubert Elrington came in. He heard of Leiva's plight and asked his friend Arthur to help. He did and we asked him if it was for all the wrong reasons:..

"One will immediately say now the P.U.P the try to run you down and chase you out of they party, and now you are trying to show them that Arthur is a nice guy. How do you respond to that interpretation?"

Arthur Saldivar

"You can respond to that better than anybody else because you would have known that this is something that is in the works long before any meeting of the party. This is about Ms. Nunez, her condition. The fact that there was a young man in the middle of this was about to be arraigned and put through the court processes for a crime that really and truly was only being committed in an effort to assist his mother. When my colleague Mr. Elrington informed me of the situation, that this young man was being accused of stealing windshields for golf karts to raise money for his ailing mother, I who have lost my father, was moved."

"Now I have to go to Merida, all my treatments go to Merida and I have to go to Merida for my checkup and all to see how I am standing and I didn't have the income. So thanks to this cancer association I'm getting help so that I can move on and try get in touch with my doctors to see how I am."
