29 year-old Lorenzo Smith Jr., an inmate who is serving a 10-year prison sentence, is on remand for murder tonight after he was accused of killing
another inmate – five years ago!
Smith had already served half of his 10 year sentence after being convicted of arson, and our information says that he would have been released on
parole. But that's all out the door because according to police, he killed a fellow prison inmate, Alfonso Eck, in jail in 2009.
More than 5 years later, he was arraigned this evening on the charge of murder before Chief Magistrate Ann Marie Smith, and was remanded until his next
court date in February, 2015.
He appeared very upset at his arraignment claiming that police are trying to pin an old murder on him for no reason other than that the investigators
were trying to take advantage of him.
Smith was convicted of burning down the Biscayne Government School, some 10 years ago.
