posted (February 16, 2015)
He was a prison officer, but tonight Ryan Rowland is a prisoner - after he was convicted for drug trafficking. Chief Magistrate Anne Marie Smith convicted him in absencia for the trafficking of 55 grams, about two ounces of weed. She ordered him to pay the mandatory minimum fine of $10,000 dollars, or in default serve 5 years in jail.

But, he wasn't there to pay, so police went to pick him up. He couldn't pay by noon, so they took him to jail - where the prison officer is spending the first night of his 5 year sentence. 10 months ago, on April 17, 2014, Rowland, was busted at the Belize Central Prison in possession of 55 grams of cannabis.
