Rt. Hon Musa & Hon. Finnegan, Ready For The Road, But Not Ready To Retire
posted (March 6, 2015)
And another interesting contrast of perspectives on election day came from veteran representatives Said Musa and Michael Finnegan. Musa has been in the House of Representatives since 1979, losing twice - and Finnegan has been there since 1993. But they're both getting up there in years, and on election day we asked if they plan to retire: one said he can't wait while the other said, he'll wait just a little longer:..

Jules Vasquez
"How do you feel about your future in politics right now?"

Rt. Hon. Said Musa, Area Rep., Fort George
"This is it now for me." (Smiling)

Jules Vasquez
"You keep saying that."

Rt. Hon. Said Musa, Area Rep., Fort George
"Seriously. More than likely, I will contest the next general election, but that would be it for me. I said it on Handy side Street and I mean it this time, because I think I've done my part, I've done my service and I have to give a younger stallion the constituency to continue the good work you know. When I said stallion, I should have said mare as well - it could be male or female."

Jules Vasquez
"But it's hard to leave."

Rt. Hon. Said Musa, Area Rep., Fort George
"Politics gets into the veins and the arteries...."

Jules Vasquez
"I think it's in your marrow."

Hon. Michael Finnegan, Area Rep., Mesop.
"Every day."

Jules Vasquez
"So when will it happen, when will you retire?"

Hon. Michael Finnegan, Area Rep., Mesop.
"I don't know. I am worn."
