A Senseless Killing In Orange Walk Town
posted (March 10, 2015)
Over the long weekend, there were 2 shootings, one in Belize City, and one Roaring Creek Village, Cayo, and one fatal stabbing in Orange Walk.

We report first on the murder of 26 year-old Orange Walk resident, Luis Richardo Campos. His body was found at around 5 o'clock on Sunday Morning at the Waldy Cuello Stables, just off the San Antonio Road. He suffered multiple stab wounds to the throat, the right shoulder and the side of the face.

Residents say that the last time they saw him alive was when he was walking on Asuncion Street in Orange Walk Town. Today, Orange Walk Police briefed the media about what they've managed to establish so far:

Supt. Dennis Arnold, O.C., Orange Walk Police Formation
"San Pedro police call us and give us that information. Police has responded. At the time they didn't find anything. At about 7am, the same morning, we received the call again. Police had visited the Cuello Stable, where upon arrival, they saw what appears to be a lifeless body of a male Hispanic person. His name was learnt to be Luis Campos, 26 years old, of Orange Walk Town. Initial police investigation revealed that somewhere around 2:30, three persons were socializing at a birthday party and thereafter they left that party and went to the Cuello Stable, where they found Campos and apparently inflicted stab wounds to him. Stab wounds were 3 to the left shoulder, 1 to the arm pit and sliced throat - his throat was cut. No motive. So far, it appears to be another senseless killing. At present, we have one person in custody, another is on the run. Apparently, he left to the Mexican side."

Our colleagues from CTV3 News approached Campos' family for comment, but they declined.
