In January, we told you how BDF volunteer Soldier Denver Villafranco was beaten to death. Brothers Phil and Orlando Staine were arrested and charged with murder, and tonight, their other brother, 33 year-old Kareem Staine, has joined them in jail.
He was arraigned late this evening before the Chief Magistrate on a single charge of murder, and due to the nature of the offences, he was remanded; he will be brought back to court on May 27, along with his other brothers.
Villafranco was walking on Complex avenue and at about 7:30 p.m. on January 17. When he arrived at the Sunflower Street intersection, 3 men ambushed him. One of the men clubbed him over the head with a crowbar, another slashed him in the abdomen and stabbed him several times in the chest, and the other punched him several times. They left him lying in a drain, and that's when police arrived and tried to rush him to the KHMH for medical treatment. He died 10 minutes later while undergoing surgery.
