Visionaries On A Quest
posted (July 7, 2015)
In December of last year we showed you the participants and the winner of the Sagicor Visionaries Challenge. The aim of the challenge was to get high school students to come up with innovations in Science, Technology and Mathematics. The winner of that challenge was Bishop Martin High School in Orange Walk with their Chaya project called "Mayan Power For Modern Times". Well, they traveled to Tampa, Florida to participate in the Regional competition and also to be a part of a 7 day STEM Ambassador Programme. But the experience doesn't end there: while in Tampa, the group will be exposed to nanotechnology and space, engineering, prototyping and testing. They, along with other regional winners, will visit the Kennedy Space Center, as well as the Epcot Centre, where they will go on a Behind the Seeds Tour to interact and learn about different plants, insects and fish, and discover the latest plant-growing techniques. Their Tampa experience will end with a visit to the University of South Florida labs and the announcement of the regional winner. The regional winner will be announced at the upcoming STEM Ambassador Programme in Florida.
