Belize and Taiwan today signed an agreement to improve public health.
The 2 million plus dollars form the Taiwanese will be used principally for a project targeting the Prevention and Control of Chronic Renal Failure – or
what you might know as kidney disease. At the signing today, the Taiwanese Ambassador and the Minister of Health discussed the benefits of the

"With this agreement, we are going to work together with medical professionals from countries to engage in cooperating of mutual assistant in promoting
the so called chronical disease preventive contact cooperating."

"It's about 2.1 million dollars US that will be in a span of 5 years. The collaboration can continue in this programme but it's directed re and renal
failure. As the ambassador mentioned it will have a series of events, training, training our nurses, training our technicians, training our community
health workers to go and screen in Belize this disease. The community has to realise that we have to start to eat healthy, do exercise."
Government will access technical support from the Taiwanese in areas of health education, disease screening and clinical services.
