You might not think of it, but Belize's narrow highways take quite a load with all the heavy trucks that traverse them. But how heavy is that load? That's what the Ministry of Works and Transport is trying to find out with an axle load survey. They were doing it today in front of the Community Center in Camalote village. They're trying to find out how much weight the highways carry daily and that data will be used to assist engineers in improving future highway designs, to improve routine performance and periodic maintenance. The survey began yesterday and will continue on until next week Thursday the 10th of March.
