3 fishermen were taken to court today for fishing lobster during the closed season. Fifty-four year old Jose Augustine Garrido, a fisherman from Consejo, took the rap for 142 lobster tails caught during closed season, was fined a total of $3,045 dollars today by Magistrate Carlon Mendoza after he pleaded guilty. Garrido was given until November 7th to pay, or he could face a year in jail.
Yesterday, Fisheries Officers went to the “Port o’ Stuck†area and saw when the fishermen throw two white sacks into the mangrove. When the officers retrieved the sacks they found lobster tails.
