Village council elections continue this weekend all across the country. So far, the UDP is performing much like it did three years ago, by dominating the results. The party is claiming that after 83 village council elections in the first two weeks, they control about 50 villages and the PUP control about half of that. "And I've never said that we are outdoing the UDP. What I'm saying is that we are winning more than what we were winning 3 years ago and secondly, where they are winning, we are closing that gap and that is what is important. We don't expect to win right now. It's the big prize we are looking after. That is the one we are going to win."

"Yes, and you expect that to happen overnight? What I'm telling you right now that we are re-organizing the party and we are putting our troops on the ground and we are fighting with the little resources that we have and what we are saying is that we just took over the leadership of this party on the 1st February and we are starting to see some results of the work that we are doing. That is what we want and that is what is exciting, that we are going in the right direction. I can tell you that whenever they call the general elections, we are going to have a government of the PUP. You could mark my words on that and take it to the bank."
