COLA Calls For GOB To Take A Broader View Of Border Issues

Today, after a brief break from public affairs, the activist group COLA issued a release on the state of Belize Guatemala relations. President Giovanni Brackett told us today that the government has to clarify that the final decision on the ICJ rests in a referendum by the citizens of Belize - and he wants an education campaign to reflect that:...

"We need to go back to the awareness, campaign, that Stewart Leslie and them, had started to alert the people that we are still at a referendum process and that discussion needs to be started all over again finally the Sarstoon is still a huge issue for COLA. We've built a base, but the Guatemalans have gone ahead to assert their power over the entire Sarstoon and even though we have built those base, we have failed to assert out level of power over our side of the Sarstoon."
