48 Hours: Almost Half Of Belize District Residents Still Without Power

And while water taxi commuters have that problem - almost half of the Belize District is still under a blackout - and going into 48 hours without power! At 6:00 pm, BEL reports that power has been restored in 47% of the Belize District and 84% of the country.

BEL says that since the all clear, critical facilities such as the KHMH, water pumping stations, communication systems, airports and major commercial areas have been restored with power supply.

The company is now focusing on completing restoration in what are called high risk areas of Belize City and Ladyville tonight and tomorrow. They say that the Belize District continues to "require the highest level of restorative efforts and the Company expects to complete restoration to the remaining areas by the end of the weekend."
