Zoo and Agriculture Ministry Sign MOU

The Belize Zoo can now extend its wildlife conservation program. That's because the Zoo's Founding Director Sharon Matola signed an MOU with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Tropical Education Center. In a release it states that quote " the MOU is the first-ever agreement to be signed between the Belize Zoo and Government " it continues quote " This MOU also recognises the Zoo's key role in wildlife management as it seeks to restore, enhance and protect Belize's wildlife and their habitats.

The Belize Zoo is expected to create a 5 year plan which focuses on wildlife rehabilitation and public education. The release ends by saying "one of the most important components of the MoU is the collaborative partnership to increase awareness and appreciation for wildlife as an important part of the Belize's cultural and ecological landscapes." The MOU was signed this afternoon on the Zoo's compound.
