A mentally ill man was knocked run over by a bus in Corozal Town last night. 22 year old Javier Luis Chan allegedly ripped off someone’s license plate right in downtown Corozal and was running off with it when two men set chase. Police saw the commotion and joined in. Chan was trying to escape and ran directly in front of an oncoming 47 seater Morales bus. He survived the massive impact, but the head and body injuries were too much, and he died shortly after at the Corozal Town Community Hospital. Police have served the bus driver with a notice of intended prosecution and have impounded the bus. They await the instructions of the DPP on whether they will bring charges.
