Robber Fired Nine Times In Corozal Quick Loan Establishment, But He’s The One Ended Up Getting Shot
posted (November 24, 2016)
It's fortunate no one got killed inside a Corozal Quick Loans establishment today after an armed robber let off 9 shots inside the business place. It happened at Rapidito Loans on Fourth Avenue when four men pulled up in a white van to rob the place. Three of the men are from Belize City - and one of them was involved in the July 2015 armed robbery at Belize Bank. Police say that the lone gunman who went in to pull off the heist was quick to pull the trigger, but he ended up getting shot by an alert security guard. And after that, alert police work led to the apprehension of all suspects. Here's what happened:

Sr. Supt. Dennis Arnold - OC, Corozal
"A dark skin male person enter his premises brandishing a firearm. As a result the security guard opened fire on the said male person apparently hitting him. He had left the premises, but not before squeezing off 9-10 shots in the building at the proprietor and the security. Neither the security nor the proprietor was injured. After the person had left the building, fortunately a police officer was passing in his private vehicle saw what happened, saw the person got into a white van and he followed that van to the Phillip Goldson Highway where Orange Walk police was contacted and they set up a check point at San Jose Village, Orange Walk District where the said white van was intercepted and 4 male persons were therein. The said male person who we had suspected got shot at the scene, because we saw blood on the outside. He was in the said van. They were taken to the Orange Walk Police Station. The male person was taken to the Orange Walk hospital for treatment. The van is registered to a Belize City address. 3 of the persons were from Belize City. The driver of the van was from Corozal and the person who got injured is a 28 year old from Wagner's Lane, Belize City."

The gunman - who is from Wagner's lane in Belize City - was shot to the right hip and is being treated. As for the three suspects who were there while police searched the van, we can't show their faces until they are charged. One of them is well known to police since he was implicated in the robbery of First Caribbean Bank last year. They face conspiracy charges while the gunman will be looking at multiple charges including discharged firearm in public, aggravated assault and possibly attempted murder. He will be in the hospital for a while longer, but those three are expected to be charged by tomorrow and at that time, we'll share their identities with you. The van is owned by a car rental in Belize City. The license plate was removed for the commission of the crime, it appears.
