The couple were only a few days away from their first wedding anniversary, but their relationship ended in tragedy. Our news team travelled to Seine Bight today to find out why their argument escalated to violence. Daniel Ortiz has that story:

"Oh a lot of things. I don't want to cry, so probably I don't even want to talk about that. He would always come to bother everybody, most of all me, his mother. He would always come and say 'old lady gimme a dalla, I want to go and buy some cigarette." "stop smoke bwoy" that is what I would tell me. "left me lone old lady, just gimme a dalla, I want to buy cigarette." "I noh gat no money bwoy" I would tell him. "Ah no she gat, but she no wah want to give me" and things like that. Then he would say "gimme di money gial, I want to buy di cigarette" that is what he would tell me. My children would tell him to leave me alone."

Fond memories like that one are all that Agnis Ramirez has comfort herself after her son, Glen, was stabbed to death on last Friday night. All indications are that his wife, Deshawn Martinez-Ramirez was the killer.

Some time at around 11:00, the couple ended up in a fight in front of the Me & U Restaurant in the village. That ended in tragedy when Deshawn Ramirez allegedly stabbed her husband in the left side of the chest.

Nobody we spoke to today could say what started the dispute between them.

"We were just informed that it was a domestic between both of them and the male person did something to the female and the female took out a knife and assaulted the individual with it. Basically that is the information that I have. I must say that Mrs. Ramirez has already been charged and remanded to Hattieville Prison at this present moment."

"When they called me "come out here Miss Agnis, Jun and Deshawn is fighting." So I say tell them to go home and why are they fighting there to put off a show between a wife and husband. Then another phone call came saying emergency. I told them to bring them to me. A person came and told me that he is on the ground, probably dead. I say how will he die, who kill him? They say she "juk" him down. I did not believe."

Yesterday, the Ramirez couple would have celebrated the first anniversary of their marriage. But they never made it because Glenn was killed 2 days before they reached that mark, and Deshawn is now remanded for murder at the Belize Central Prison.

Glen's mother says that there were no outward signs that a violent escalation, like this one could happen. She said that she did speak to her son about the speed at which they decided to get married. In the end, however, she respected her son's decision.

"She was the one he choose, even though he had just broken up with his children mom, when he came up my step and told me that he was going to get married. I ask them "are you both sure." I ask how long have you had a relationship with this girl? He say don't interfere with my life. I say "Jun Jun, you sure?" He say she is my wife and he will marry her. I can't pick for my son. I didn't want it to be that way, so we accept who he brought. If they have a little problem, she would come and talk to me. I would go to the house and talk to both of them and they always behave themselves. So I don't know what triggered her to do such a thing. I don't know what make her to this to my son? Nobody knows, only she and God knows."

Police investigations are that the couple had other domestic disputes. No report was made, and so no police involvement was possible

"Initial investigation revealed that this couple had had any major arguments before?"

"Yes we do have information. But there is no report that I know of made to the police station. If there is no report at the station, then the police cannot act to any such complaint. We need a complainant."

Whatever the reason for the fatal stabbing, Glen's mother says that she has nothing but forgiveness for her daughter-in-law.

"It had happened. I can't bring him back. I can't change it and I won't do any kind of retaliation. I leave everything in the hands of the good Lord, because the good Lord sees and knows everything."

We note that this is the second murder coming out of a troubled relationship in the south in 10 days. Lascelle Martinez was killed by his girfriend's ex on May 27th. The wanted man, Simeon Lino is still at large.
