Last night, we told you about the Seine Bight killing over the weekend, in which 31 year-old Glen Ramirez was fatally stabbed by his wife, 28 year-old Neshawn Martinez-Ramirez. She was charged for murder and remanded to the Belize Central Prison, but tonight, she is out and free of that charge.
That's because DPP Cheryl-Lynn Vidal, does not believe that there is enough evidence against Neshawn to disprove her self-defense claim. And so, Neshawn Ramirez was removed from the Belize Central Prison today, and taken before the Chief Magistrate Ann Marie Smith for a court hearing. Crown Counsel Janelle Tillett, representing the DPP's Office, told the court that DPP Vidal has sent a memorandum to instruct the withdrawal of the murder charge against her. So, with that she was allowed to go free.
The fatal stabbing happened at around 11 last Friday night. The couple got into an argument in front of the "Me & U" Restaurant in the village, and reports are that it escalated to the point where Neshawn Martinez-Ramirez, fatally stabbed her husband, Glen, in the left side of the chest.
So, while she gets off the offense, there is still a grieving family in the village, who are now left to try and move on, and let the matter rest. Yesterday, his mother publicly questioned why a marital spate got so far out of control:
Agnis Ramirez - Mother of Deceased
"I don't know what triggered her to do such a thing. I don't know what make her to this to my son? Nobody knows, only she and God knows."
"It had happened. I can't bring him back. I can't change it and I won't do any kind of retaliation. I leave everything in the hands of the good Lord, because the good Lord sees and knows everything."
We note that Neshawn Ramirez made a Facebook post yesterday, claiming that the stabbing was an accident. In the post which is laced with expletives, she condemns those who have judged her. She says, quote, "So, judge me all you want. God n I got this. Peace out. Accident do...happen..." End quote.
