Horizon Projects Go Back Decades
posted (June 15, 2017)
For General David Jones, this New Horizons project bought him back to the early days of his career. When the New Horizons came to Belize in 1995, Jones was a junior officer and he worked along with two US Army Soldiers - who made the trip back for this year's "Beyond The Horizon." Today all three of them spoke about how times and ranks have changed but the building the erected remains:...

Brig. Gen. David Jones - Commander, BDF
"The fantastic experience to have seen them again. We went back to visit the school, to look at the building, to see what we had done 22 years ago and it's amazing to have both of them back here again on the similar exercise."

CWO Romero - US Army
"What impact me is that we did that, we put a lot of work, we did with quality and it paid the price, 22 years later you can see that that is there so its makes a huge impact, a huge rewarding experience to me to be here again."

SSG Cruz - US Army
"I'm amazed to see that building and to see people that we haven't seen about 20 years ago now we have a different rank, it's really amazing."

CWO Romero - US Army
"Just imagine how small the world is, 22 years later being the same place with a person that was 10 at that time and now is the General of the BDF force that just doesn't seem imaginable, that was something that I wasn't expecting."

Jones says they hope to bring back the Horizons project in the next few years.
