General Rejects Charges of Inappropriate Conduct
posted (June 15, 2017)
And there are those in the BDF who cannot wait for Jones to go. Now, it's true that being disliked is often synonymous with leadership - and there's no leader who is universally loved. So, there will naturally be detractors, and what can only be called haters. But, there are also those we have spoken to - at various ranks - who say the general's management of BDF resources has been less than optimal in terms of transparency. We asked him about those characterizations today:

Jules Vasquez
"There are those in the BDF who say that you have acted inappropriately in regards to, let say BDF stores. There is talking sir and it's not from one mouth I heard it and it's not from two. You are building a house for example and that in the building of that house you use BDF materials and you use BDF human resources. How do you respond to that? I'm not bringing up something frivulously, something I just hear on the streets. I've heard this repeatedly. How do you respond to it?"

Brig. Gen. David Jones, Commander - BDF
"Well I am building a house. I have saved my own resources. The money that is being spent on that house is from my resources. A few people knows how much money I have saved. I have saved a considerable amount of money to build my house. So it is quite easy for me to build with my own resources."

"There are a few people who have been disgruntled and that will happen to any leader, but I don't pay any attention to it. I know where I stand and I have no problem with what I am doing and I have had an excellent career and I will leave with the satisfaction that I know that all I have been doing have been excellent, not just for the soldiers, but also for the country of Belize. I am not concern about disgruntled people who have negative remarks, because you will always have that."

Jones was recently inducted into the US Army College's International Hall of Fame.
