Immigration Minister of State Watching Senate Hearings Closely
posted (June 15, 2017)
Last night, we had highlights of the Senate hearings on Immigration. The former Minister Carlos Perdomo testified and it gave the current minister, Beverly Williams some reason to pause and reflect. She says the standard of accountability this represents makes a Minister reluctant to act decisively.

Hon. Beverly Williams, Minister of State - Immigration
"In terms of the questioning of the former minister of immigration, the Cab. Sec. and the responsibility being laid at his feet for what was done in immigration and he himself taking responsibility and that is why we and I take very seriously the responsibility given to me by the Prime Minister. The matter of immigration is very delicate and of course we have to look at everything holistically. We are trying to be involved, but yet because of all the delicate nature of immigration at this time, whose really responsibility. We are all being scrutinized. We are being scrutinized by the public officers, but I will tell you my responsibility is to clear up the mess and nobody, the director, the CEO, myself - none of us above scrutiny. We are trying to get it right. It's no microwave solution - there is no immediate fix and so we have to do our best looking at what we do in pulling in forward."
