Hosting such an event comes with a hefty fee and thankfully Belize got some much-needed help from the Taiwanese government. 7News was there for the handing over and got some more insight on the upcoming conference from an organizer and Deputy Prime Minister Patrick Faber.

"Is it mainly speakers or do you have other activities and stuff too?"

"It is about the sustainable development goals and how young people can play a role in achieving those goals."

"We have young people coming in giving facilitating and asking young people do you agree with the sustainable development goals. It is not about pushing the SDGs on them it is more do you think you can play a role in the entire concept."

"I think it is a big contribution we are grateful and we are hoping to put off a great show for our fellow young people that are coming in but as I expressed in my opening remarks this morning this is an opportunity for our young people to be exposed to other young people in the world who are engaged in positive things as well so I think it is a win-win situation especially when we can have great partners like the government and people of Taiwan."

The Taiwanese government donated a total of $25,000 to assist in aiding the expenses of the conference which will be held at the Princess Ramada Hotel from the 6th to the 9th of November 2017.
