Tomorrow, John Alexander Watler, playwright, poet and author extraordinaire
will be releasing a compilation CD of three of his best-known epic poems. Watler
told us which pieces will be featured and why everyone should own a copy of
this latest release.
Bernard Watler,
"The CD, The story of Belize City, is a CD of three pieces of my work
and it includes, 'The Story of Belize City, 'While They Fight I Write,' and
'A Grand Tour of Money River.' Its something I've been planning for a long time,
to bring out this because these are three exceptional pieces of work and for
a while I had the idea of bringing them out on CD, probably on DVD. But this
time I feel it's appropriate.
The Tour of Belize City is a epic poem. It was published in
1981 and it's a poem about Belize City, it's what you call a narrative story,
narrative poetry about Belize City.
While they fight I write is a very historic poem and one that
I hope will be around for a thousand years from now because it tells of a very
important time in history and these are what writers; writers capture moments
in history and preserve them for the future.
A Grand Tour of Monkey River, it's a Belizean ecological poem.
Its something that instill in, the young people listening today, instill in
them probably a love for their own area where they come from and this is what
I always try to do, to bring this out in my work."
The CD will be launched tomorrow at 10 at king's music on Albert Street.
