Having a roof
over our head is something we take for granted at times but for Donna Arnold, it
is all she really wants. She has a house but it is quite literally falling
apart. This morning we went to visit her and she showed us the condition she had
her children are living in.
Â
A swamp that is what Donna Arnold
describes her house as. What was once a structure with firm flooring and strong
walls has deteriorated drastically over the years.
Â
All the rain has caused her floors to
remain in a damp state while her walls have taken a beating due to strong winds
and hurricanes.
Â
Arnold just gave birth to her sixth
child so coping in this wilting structure is becoming ever more difficult for
her and her family who wake up to a cold wet ground every morning.
Â
After requesting help and not receiving
she is beyond frustrated.

Donna Arnold - Mother of 6
"Well I have been living here for 14 years and I have been asking for help.
People just come and take pictures but they don't help me so this is my last
option. I am asking for any assistance for me and my children. The water comes
in and when the sun comes out it dries but now the water is settling. It looks
like a swamp. Other people came. They said they would help me. They went inside
and took pictures. This year is here and they still have not come back. The just
took pictures and this is it."
Â
Arnold has water and electricity. All
she wants is a house. Not a big house or a small house, she just wants a humane
living space.

"I'm tired of them come taking pictures, I need my house. This is my last option
now."
Â
After visiting
Arnold we did speak to area representative Boots Martinez. Martinez informed us
that he was not aware of Arnold's dire situation. He will assist her with
getting an adequate living space.
