CARICOM Scolds Pres. Trump
posted (January 15, 2018)
US President Donald Trump has been quoted describing a number of developing nations in very crude language. One of those countries is Haiti, and, on Saturday, CARICOM sprung to its defence.

A release says, quote, "CARICOM is deeply disturbed by reports about the use of derogatory and repulsive language by the President of the United States in respect of our Member State, Haiti, and other developing countries. CARICOM condemns in the strongest terms, the unenlightened views reportedly expressed."

It concludes, quote, "CARICOM...views this insult to the character of the countries named and their citizens as totally unacceptable." End quote.
