A Czech tourist fell victim to a ruthless armed robber in San Ignacio.
It happened last night at around 8:30, when Lucie Nemeckova and 4 other friends had just left a restaurant and were walking back to her room at the Venus Hotel in the downtown area. On the way, they were attacked by a man with a knife. He tried to rob her friends but they ran away, and so, he turned his attention to her. He held her against the fence at knifepoint, grabbed her handbag and fled.
A security guard heard her screams and chased the attacker, but he escaped.
Her personal belongings - added to 1,700 dollars in Belize and US currency combine for a total loss of close to $2,500.
She described her attacker as an "Afro-American, about 25 years-old, and tall. She told the cops that his face appeared as though he was under the influence of drugs. No arrests have been made.
