Tonight, two Cayo District men are at home after spending two years on remand for murder. On Monday, Justice Antoinette Moore told 21-year-old Damion Donovan Velasquez, from Roaring Creek and 20-year-old Justin Giovanni Banner, from Camalote Village that they had no case to answer.
The acquittal came after a no case submission by their attorneys, Oscar Selgado and Leeroy Banner.
Justice Moore found that the eyewitness evidence provided by his parents did not prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt. He also disputed what police put in the statement - so he was treated as a hostile witness.
The father, Eluterio Choc admitted that he never really saw the full face of the two men who entered his house and shot his son.
