Man Murdered In Front of Family
posted (March 15, 2018)

When we left you last night, it was with news that a man had been shot on the southside.  Well, regrettably, it was another fatal shooting.  Emil Audinett was with his family watching the news when gunmen barged in.  We have more from last night's crime scene:…

ASP Alejandro Cowo - Head of CIB
"The body was observed to have multiple gunshot wounds around the chest area and in the face area."

When we got to the home on Ordonez Street at 7:30 - police were inside Emil Audinet's living room.  Half an hour earlier, it was a gunman who barged in and killed the 29 year old in front of his family:

ASP Alejandro Cowo
"Just before 7:00 Mr. Audinett was along with his common law wife inside the living hall looking at the news when a lone gunman came from the front door and fired several shots at his direction causing the fatal injuries."

Jules Vasquez
"They actually went into his home, so they went physically into his front door?"

ASP Alejandro Cowo
"Walked to the door steps."

Jules Vasquez
"And killed him front of his family?"

ASP Alejandro Cowo
"Shot him, yes. His wife was present"

Last night his wife explained to relatives what she saw.  And while she had to be strong

Young relatives were inconsolable, and ran to their grandmother and aunt for answers.

But there's no making sense of this kind of violence. Police could only look for clues - they found this red shirt - which they believe is useful:

ASP Alejandro Cowo
"Police in the area made checks and found two shirts allegedly been used by the two male persons in the immediate area."

Investigators walked over across Western Avenue to an adjoining street looking for anything his killers may have dropped. They believe the murder is motivated by a feud:

ASP Alejandro Cowo
"The information that we have received so far is that he had two separate misunderstanding. One election day and the next one was as recent as Saturday or Friday with two individuals.

Jules Vasquez
"Is he known to be a gang affiliated person?"

ASP Alejandro Cowo
"Well our records doesn't have nothing much on him. We know that yes he hangs in one of the areas here in Belize City."

Once again, police will need more than evidence to solve a gang execution of a particularly calculating and cold-blooded nature.

His family declined comment today.  At this time police have no suspects.
