21-year-old Everal Martinez has been charged for the murder of baby Alyssa Nunez, the 17 month old sexual abuse victim who died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head.
Two weeks ago, Martinez was taken to court under a blanket of security and charged for 2 counts of attempted rape of a child and 2 counts of attempted assault of a child.
Today, it was a far more low profile affair when he was hurried into court in a tinted police mobile. They rushed him into the court room of Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford where he was read three serious charges:, first, for the March 4, 2018 murder of the 17 month old toddler, and one count of rape of a child which occurred on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, and one count of assault of a 17 month old child by penetration, which, again, is alleged to have happened on Wednesday, February 28, 2018. We note that is the same day Alyssa was hospitalized in an unresponsive state.
No plea was taken - and he was further remanded until May 18th - so tonight he remains in jail with no possibility of bail due to the murder charge.
His attorney, Oscar Selgado was not at the arraignment - likely because it came up quickly and unexpectedly.
