posted (March 19, 2018)
And in a shooting that was gang related, shots were fired yesterday morning on South Creek - adjoining Supal Street. It's a cross creek rivalry between two gangs - and it has claimed lives before. This time the victim was 34 year old Security Guard, Robert Strekler. Police had more details:..

ASP Alejandro Cowo
"On Sunday the 18th of March 2018 just after 9 in the morning, police responded to shots fired on South Creek, Belize City. Upon arrival at that location, they were informed that the victim had been transported to the hospital. Upon making a check at the hospital, they observed Mr. Robert Strekler, a Belizean security guard of 3168 Supal Street. He was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his left lower back. What we understand is that Robert was speaking to a male person from South Creek when someone came from the other side of the Canal who hid behind some bushes and fired several shots at his direction causing the mentioned injuries. It was the other person who was along with him who was the target. This is as a result of the dispute between the two gang rivals in Supal Street and on the other side of the creek."

Initial reports said that well-known figure Jason soup Williams had been shot - but he wasn't. A representative says the shooting was in "no way connected to him."
