Do We Really Need More Boots On the Ground
posted (March 19, 2018)
So, at the top of the newscast you heard all about the new matrix to curb crime in the city's gang hotspots: first, the BDF is back on the streets; second, there's a newly reappointed Minister of National Security with a newly reconstituted ministry, and third, certain areas will be declared emergency areas - meaning they'll be put into something like a state of emergency.

Those areas haven't been determined yet, But what really will more boot son the ground do? We've heard that so many times and the crime problem just keeps getting worse. We challenged the Prime Minister on it yesterday:..

Jules Vasquez, reporter
"We have increased the size of the department by two times with great public cost. We have empowered them with so many vehicles. However we continue to have crisis levels of crimes and homicidal violence. There must be something wrong in the department or in the leadership of the department."

Rt. Hon. Dean Barrow, Prime Minister
"I do think that the efforts at broadening the leadership structure and certainly the appointment of Chester Williams to the particular assignment with which he's been tasked, is going to help."
